DPI-SIG May Outing
Burrowing Owls
May 4 7:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Burrowing Owls, many with chicks, are available to photograph on Marco Island. Maps will be available through a link to a Google map on the DPI-SIG website near the outing date to be as accurate as possible.
A reception will follow at the home of Jim Robellard and Judy Chinski from 10:30-12:00 noon. Light refreshments will be served. Their address is: 1590 Ludlow Rd, Marco Island, FL (phone:847-769-5988). There is an active owl nestsand 5 gopher tortoise burrows next door. It is recommended that you start early (7:30 AM) with the owl nests at Hawaii and Barfield or Winterberry and Peacock. From there, explore the island via the map. Shoot low with the sun behind your back and at a respectful distance. Carpooling will be helpful but most sites have a fair amount of parking, as does Jim’s house. Just don’t park too close to the nests. Have fun and come for refreshments and sharing of pictures afterwards.

Your ol’ buddy Tennessee Rick will talk primarily about portrait photography, but as a “tip of the hat” to you landscape photographers he’ll mention f/22.0 at least once. Look on YouTube and you’ll see review after review about new cameras and gear that will “make you amazing.” For this one evening let’s talk about what you can do with what you already have.

Traveling the back roads and villages of Tuscany and Provence
Jim, will share the fun and adventures of making photographs with just one goal, creating images “in the moment”.

DPI-SIG Art Show
In an emergency action, Sonny Saunders alerted the membership to the potential disaster of bare walls in the Central Street Library. The members responded, and Priscilla McGuire came out of Art Show retirement to handle the paperwork. A group of wall hangers put the show together and hung it for us. Nice work!
Stop in to the library to see what is on display. Show closes April 30.
